Bali, known as one of world most wondering island store a million of unusual attraction. There is one that very important but sound not usual, it is the CEREMONIAL COCKFIGHTING.

In a village, named KELUSA VILLAGE / DESA KELUSA, held in every 210 days "every six months" according to Balinese Calendar, the ceremony taking place in a big temple call PURA HYANG API. It is about 10 minutes driving from Ubud.

On these days, hundreds or perhaps thousand of people come with their own well treated cock comes to do the little sacred but full of meaning activities. In Bali Hindu religion, cockfighting has a deep purpose of sacrifice, especially when one of the cock dripping their blood onto the ground. It is symbolizing the holiest purification ceremony to the universe.

All above activities are always done by men, meanwhile the woman will come to the temple with offering.

Miss Universe visited Ubud - Bali

After visiting numbers of interesting places in Indonesia, Miss Universe 2008 "Dayana Mendoza" with a pleasure, spend her time between her super tight schedule to visit one of the most cultural tourist destination in Ubud.

Accompanied by Miss Indonesia "Zivanna Latisha" and Miss Bali "Ayu Diandasari" welcome by the owner and creature of The Royal Pita Maha, she spend around two
hours to enjoy the stunning view of Ayung River from the Dewata Lounge of The Royal Pita Maha - Ubud - Bali.

Dayana Mendoza and all her team reveal their amazement to the resort architecture and its concept. This unforgotten experience make her forget the one hour visit, the conversation between her and the owner of The Royal Pita Maha was extended until two hours.

Leave from The Royal Pita Maha at 4pm, the group continued their second visit in this cultural village to one of the most famous palace in Bali "Ubud Palace", welcome by the prince and all family members of Puri Saren Ubud, Dayana Mendoza was surprised with a seasonal and an incidental art of Bali "it was Barong Ngelawang"

In the Island of God "Bali" , a very special day and the most holy day, happen once in every 210 days " six months in Hindu Calendar", celebrated by all Balinese at the same time. Galungan is the symbolic of the glory when the good wins against the evil.

In this days, all family will gather together with all family members to celebrate this special ceremonial day.

Nowadays, Galungan has become one of the most interesting event that is listed by major tourism information board in Bali. Visitors can feel the most holistic atmosphere during Galungan.

It is start early in the morning, womens will use their traditional dress and carry on offering on their head to go to every temples on their village.

Ten days after Galungan is Kuningan day. This is the closing day of the Galungan celebration. Again on Kuningan, there will be a simmilar celebration likes Galungan, the difference will be only the time of the celebration. Kuningan day celebration will finish before midday.

On August 17th 2008, Republic of Indonesia will celebrate their 63th Independence Day. This day is a very special day for all Indonesian citizens, thousands of heroic activities will be done at the entire Indonesia archipelago with its typical and ethnic characteristic.

In the cheerful of the celebration, it is a must for all instances and school to celebrate this special moment. Student long march can be seen in all street all over Indonesia.

On the 17th of August, a great Independence day ceremony will be done at the Indonesian Independence Monument / Istana Merdeka, and will be followed by all governmental offices, non governmental offices and others.

It is one of the best time to visit Indonesia this month. All days on the month of August will be full of attractions.

			Museum Puri Lukisan presents Pioneers of Balinese Painting July 14 – September 12, 2008 Exhibitions open daily from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM

The Puri Lukisan Museum
is celebrating its 50th anniversary. First open to public on January 31, 1956,
it is the oldest art museum in Ubud. To mark a half-century of accomplishments,
the museum is hosting three important exhibitions during the Summer of 2008,
with the grand opening on July 14 2008:

The Pitamaha Exhibition
Drawing from the core collection of the Puri Lukisan Museum, this exhibition
presents an overview of the development of Balinese painting and woodcarving
over the past 100 years. It exhibits works of art rooted in the Wayang tradition,
through the transition to modernity in the 1930s, and its further development today.

The Ida Bagus Made Exhibition
Featuring paintings from the estate of maestro Ida Bagus Made Poleng,
one of the original members of Pitamaha and student of Rudolf Bonnet,
this exhibition celebrates the visual artistry of one of the foremost painters of Ubud.
In 2000, following the artist’s last wish, the widow of Ida Bagus Made loaned
about 100 paintings from the artist’s private collection to the
Puri Lukisan Museum. Fifty of these paintings will be presented to
the public for the first time. This exhibition is accompanied
by a catalog: “Ida Bagus Made – the Art of Devotion” co-authored
by Prof. Kaja McGowan ( Cornell University, USA), Prof. Adrian Vickers
( University of Sydney, Australia), Soemantri Widagdo, and Prof. Benedict Anderson
(Cornell University, USA)

Bali Art Festival ke 30

Bali Art Festival atau lazim disebut dengan Pesta Kesenian Bali akan digelar lagi pada Bulan Juni 2008 sampai dengan pertengahan Juli 2008. Tahun ini merupakan penyelengagaraan Pesta Kesenian Tahunan yang ke 30.

Dalam hajatan seni ini akan di pentaskan berbagai seni dan budaya Bali seperti seni tari, seni peran seni lukis, seni patung dan lain sebagainya, dan yang paling penting akan selalu di pentaskan seni drama tari yang setiap tahun menjadi ikon dari pesta kesenian ini.

Seperti tahun - tahun sebelumnya, juga akan di undang para group seni dari berbagai daerah di Indonesia dan mancanegara sebagai wujud apresiasi kebersamaan dalam rangka menggalang persatauan dan persahabatan.

Pioneers of Balinese Paintings

Tanggal 14 Juli, dalam rangka merayakan 50 tahun Museum Puri Lukisan, yayasan Ratna Wartha - Ubud, Museum Puri Lukisan akan mengadakan Pameran seni.

Dalam pameran ini akan dipamerkan koleksi karya - karya pelukis ternama antara lain karya Walter Spies, Rudolf Bonnet, Ida Bagus Made dan banyak lagi karya - karya pelukis Bali ternama pada saat itu.

Pameran rencananya akan dibuka oleh Menbudpar Jero Wacik dihadiri kurang lebih 100 orang undangan dari Belanda, 50 orang undangan dari Amerika serta ratusan undangan dari berbagai wilayah di Indonesia.

Sebelum puncak peringatan akan dilaksanakan Seminar dengan tema UBUD LESTARI dan BERBUDAYA yang akan dibawakan oleh:
- Drs. Wayan Karja - Puncak - puncak kemeasan Seni Rupa Ubud Sebuah Harapan dan Tantangan
- Prof. Dr. I Wayan Rai S.MA - Seni pertunjukan dalam kehidupan berkesenian di daerah Ubud
